    My first 1903

I found a Springfield 1903 with an 8-42 barrel in a scant stock,so it was rehabbed for WW2,I paid $475 for it,but the bore is completely rusted away from MANY blanks fired and no cleaning.I like it and plan to find a good barrel later.Any thoughts on parts?I think the Bolt is Remington?Cartouches are RA-P(Raritan),and boxed AAG(Anniston?).I've had a Smith Corona 1903-A3 for a long time,so I HAD to get an 03

The correct 1918 barrel for your gun is on e-bay right now http://www.ebay.com/itm/131225895458?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
You could use your current barrel band and sight assembly and front sight. (But earlier would be better!)
If its as nice a shooter barrel as they say, it would make your rifle much more correct!
Pretty nice gun for a prior honor guard duty weapon! Congratulations!

    Cheers

Pass on THAT barrel. No rear sight base and they are costly. Keep looking. You have base on your bad barrel so contact Chuckindenver for some help.

I note you said you bought your "first" M1903 ... what did it say in Dante's version of Hell? "Abandon hope, all ye who enter..."

Honest, it started out as just a desire to get one "classic" M1903. Then I found that ONE wasn't enough ... I caught myself just stopping after work at the local gun shop, then deciding I needed just a little bit more, just one more to calm my nerves ... then I started DREAMING about them and the only way to make the dreams go away was to buy ANOTHER M1903 ... Before long I had a whole GUNSAFE full of them and no more room ...

Does it make you feel like Mel Gibson buying copies of Catcher in the Rye re: the movie Conspriacy Theroy?
Does me. But I am not that focused on one book/milsurp.
