Kuebelwagen Typ 82

The daugther of a good friend of mine passed away recently have applied to me looking for an advice.
She has inherited a Kuebelwagen Typ 82 made in 1944, the vehicle is desert sand in color, restored and in good working conditions. The engine fitted on the car is a post WWII Volkswagen but the original one is available as a spare. To my knowledge some parts are not original (canvas items, doors, speedometer) and the brakes have been modified.
Please, could someone let me have an idea about the market value of the vehicle described above?

If this is helpful, my local garage owner has a 1943 with a post war VW engine and he says they can fetch with all original metalwork and parts £39000.

Gioca, it is impossible to assess a value to a vehicle as you described. There are so many variables that a vehicle like this could have. That said, I've seen restored and all correct Kubelwagon far a little as $40,000.00 USD and as much as $65,000.00 USD. One with modifications would be considerably less depending on what all modifications they are.

A detailed photo expose' would be a good idea and placed on a few sites specializing more in WWII vehicles like G503.com is Military Vehicles, The WWII Military Jeep, Parts, Olive Drab and All Related Things..

Just as a matter of interest, did the kubelwagen or a variant of it continue in production post war as did the motorcycle half-track thinggy being restored by XRCD011? Come to think of it, it's time for a bit more updated news XRCD............

Yes, Peter it was made between 1968 and 1983 as the VW Thing.

My local garage owner is ex REME and treasures it as one of the best things that came out of his BAOR service, he loves it, and once again in Rommel desert colours and insignia.

He says many have been changed to more advanced VW and later hydraulics which takes it well away from the old days of cable but he does say, they need to be as near original as possible to commnad the upper price brackets.
I would hazard a guess she would get a good £20K for it is it has had mods as described at the start of the thread

The type 181 Thing is not a type 82 Kubelwagon. It is a modern adaptation and not much is the same.
