I believe the MK1 and MK1* use a "tie plate or bar" where as the MK1/2 use a bolt. The stock that I have asked about is a compete stock for a MK1/2 or Mk2 using the threaded bolt or screw at the rear of the forearm to allow the MK2 receiver to fit the forearm. The butt stock and upper forearm parts are no different than those of the MK1 orMK1* ( to my eye that is). The stock is walnut, it is clearly marked with the Savage S in a square on the metal forearm tip and the bottom of the grip portion of the butt stock.
My problem is that, as I understand it, Savage ceased production of the NO 4 rifle sometime in 1944, the MK1/2, MK1/3, MK2 conversion started some time in 1949. The stock I have is not a MK1,MK1* that has had the wood removed from the rear of the forearm, and patched to allow the use of a bolt instead of the tie bar to accommodate the MK2 trigger. It is a actual stock whose original design and cut was for the MK2 trigger system. The information I can find relates to Savage Arms and production of the NO4 MK1*from 1941to 1944, with no mention of anything to do with the conversion or manufacture of any parts or stocks for the MK1/2, MK/3 conversion or the original MK2.
If I knew how I would post pictures here. If you would like to contact me with e-mail I will gladly supply them. I ope this clears up any issues about my question.

    Thank You

I've been in the Enfield game for a long time, understand fore-end configurations and think of myself as reasonably articulate/literate but I am totally lost.
But taxing my literary senses I can say that you have NOT got a Savage made Mk2 type fore-end

O.K Gentlemen I hope this works. Let revise my question. Does anyone have any information pertaining to what appears to be a Walnut MK2 forend? Like who made them, when and where? If this does not work would someone please tell me how to attach photos to these posts?

    Gentlemen
Let me revise my question. Does anyone have any information pertaining to the manufacture of a forend of what "appears" to be a Walnut forend for a NO4 MK2. I am not asking about a Walnut forend that originally housed a NO4 MK1 or MK1* and was later converted to house the MK2 receiver. I am asking about one that is of original design and cut solely for the MK2 receiver. Savage Arms is no longer part of the question
    Thank YOU

Sure, if it's marked with a "P in a square", it's a Turkishicon walnut forend as made for Pakistani No.4 rifle production. This wood was available via Century Arms back in 2010 or thereabouts. I had a few sets and it was lovely when cleaned up and treated with RLO. The handguards were very oversize and took a considerable amount of fitting.

Are these the correct photos? Item pictured is made from beech, not walnut.

Jona is correct. It's a standard beech Mk.2 forend in need of a bit of TLC.
