Rewriting the law based on a police rewriting of history is something which seems to happen all the time - and the 'tough on crime' legislators welcome it. Beery's reason (Lee Rigby) for the obsolete calibres thing wasn't something I was aware of - but sums it up perfectly. In a similar case we have top cops using Dunblane as an excuse to arm officers here - even though armed police wouldn't have prevented it happening.

One suspects that in reality the police would like to ban all deactivated weapons, obsolete calibres and firearms - and there are plenty of rentaquote MPs who would entirely agree. Each law creep should probably be seen in this context.

Instead of dropping the unsuspecting (let us presume) seller "in it", why not send them a message advising them of the facts with a link to confirmatory information?

Or just tell them to carry on selling them as shotgun bolts and be done with it! Everyone is a winner. Like buying a .22 sound moderator for your .22 air rifle instead of your RF rifle.

And you won't believe this you foreign forumers............ Someone, nobody quite knows who, suddenly decreed that a sound moderator for your .22" rifle has to be proofed no less...... Why....? apparently when it is attached to the barrel it forms PART of the barrel, absorbs gas pressure and is subject to the same conditions as a barrel. Yep, proofed at EXTRA cost to boot! You couldn't make it up.........

Where is the physice AND LAW to substantiate this horse manure. A first year Physice student could counter this cow scattology......... And - of course you need a variation to buy a silencer, once the silencer (which is now classed as a section 1 fiream) is 'on' your licence, you can do a one-for-one variation and 'swap' it for an L42, or an L96, or whatever.
