RobD, Those aren't the correct ones. They're too short. Originals are 57" long and were made in both P'37 khaki and P'44 green webbing. I'm not sure if they were interchangeable with anything else or purpose made but I know I've seen less of the web straps than I have the bulky leather ones. Personally, I much prefer the webbing stap over the leather. Brian

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). To be honest Brian and others, there's no 'correct' webbing sling. It's the sling that the storeman gave to you when you went into the Company Store and asked him for a decent length sling that'd fit the loops in the box and make it comfortable to carry. The boxes were never comfortable to carry so the tele stayed on the rifle during the stalk!

I understand Peter. All I know is that back in 2001 I bought a pile of original CES items including telescope case straps, both leather and web. The webbing ones were all exactly as I described above so there must have been a certain length that was procured for the scope cases. All of the straps I had were taken from L1A1 scope cases since I just happened to be importing 30 of them, (L42A1's), at the time and I'm sure they were removed so they could be sold to me separately. I sure didn't turn them down because I've never seen so many in one place at one time before or since. I had eleven original IWS brackets too in the same pile of "extras". You know they were liberated from the rifle chests so they could be sold separately too. I got called a crook by many for asking $75 each for the IWS brackets at the time once I got them back to my shop. I wish I had them all back!!

A real shame as I bought one of his No.8 case straps about 10 or so years ago and it's brilliant. Was really looking forward to getting the case and caps as everyone raved about his work.

    Paul.
Unfortunately I've suffered the same fate with Mr Moore. He was very responsive and very helpful last October regard a set of PPCo lens covers. I made payment and I haven't heard a thing since after sending numerous emails. I've accepted I'll probably never see the lens covers or my money again.
    Buyer beware!!!

    Moore Leather

Unfortunately I will never deal with J Moore again. I sent him a prototype leather cheek piece for the M41B Swedishicon Mauser Sniper. We agreed he would make a quantity for me at an agreed price and that I would sell them (as it was my idea and my prototype that he copied). Once the first batch ran out I would order another batch. I paid in advance, never received the quantity agreed and found out that he had been making them and selling them direct before he had even sent me mine that I'd paid for in advance. Usual story of long delays, unanswered emails, failure to deliver on a number of occasions. He does great work but does make mistakes (which of course are never his fault) and as a result of first hand experience I wouldn't trust him.

I've got his home address if anybody wants it and can be bothered traipsing all that way. Be nice to knock on his door and put the good old MK1 attitude adjuster into action though.
