A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. CMPicon is the only way to go for .30-06 surplus.

FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda.

    Thanks for the replies -

Thanks for the replies. Thing is, I have no interest in filling out paperwork and jumping through hoops in order to buy from CMPicon. Weighed it out a couple of times and could not justify the bother. Saw some spam cans of 30.06 at a G-show in December 2008. Price was about a buck-twenty a can which was double CMP's price less shipping. Did not know at the time what the going rate was for that stuff. Willing to pay the premium to keep things simple. There are some shows coming and I might place aqn AD on th4e new Joustericon Wanted board. Thanks again . . .

Any desire to do a trade? I have a spare case of LC '06 I want to trade for a case of 7.62.
Don't blame me - I voted for Palin.

If filling out paperwork and belonging to a affiliated club is to troublesome for you I guess you will have to pay those inflated prices at gunshows.

Problem is, the stuff you see at gun shows will vary in quality. You will find yourself asking, "Is it noncorrosive?", "Is it boxer primed?", Is it clean?", "Is it rusty?", "Has it been stored in the desert?"; you just don't know. Most will be decent, but you just don't know.

Yes, there are a few folks who are sitting on USGI milsurp; expect to pay $1/round if you find it.

I really don't see the problem with the CMPicon "hoops." If you have a CHL, or a DD214 all you have to do is join a local club which cost me $20 bucks. Once you do it once you're pretty much set for life.

The old DCM was really onerous, the CMP is very user friendly. Having said that if you really don't feel like doing the paperwork there are always gunshows.
