    Winchester M12 authenticity help

    Hi,
I'm looking at an M12 on gunbroker.....I'm not too concerned with overall condition, a good honest worn specimen is fine with me. I'm more concerned with fakes.
    Here's the link...

    http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=440582286

I don't have any books to reference, and info on the net is kind of all over the place....

    Thanks for any insight.

That one has a number of issues including the wrong buttplate, an unmarked stock, and the muzzle is all buggered up. Save your money for another one.

Kind of the consensus I've been getting. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

So if a stock was replaced by an armorer due to breakage is it no longer a trench gun? I understand that it isn't original as it left the factory, I get that.

Is the buttplate from a later era or completely wrong for a military Model 12?

Just wondering, as I have been watching this auction too.
