    Bought mine 5 years ago and has been sitting in my safe ever since! The darn thing shoots a couple nice groups and then sends some of them out into never, never land ... I have owned many rifles over the years, but this one is the most inaccurate rifle I have owned ... It is a shame that such a nice piece is useless .....

    Don't shoot FMJ bullets out of it, try the heavier match bullets. Even my older Mini will shoot small groups with the 68 Hornady, 64 grain Winchester PP, but spray 55 grain fmj bullets all over.

    until Ruger starts using good barrels, i doubt they will change.
    i dumped a lot of money into a Mini 14 years ago, and the best i got was 3 inch groups, though i did get it to shoot without a wild bunch in left field.
    iv heard of guys that get lucky, and find one that will group nice..they are lucky.
    i agree, what a shame. i liked the rifle. just a ammo waster..:}

    Hmmmmmm

    I thought "Mini-14 accuracy" was an oxymoron.....I've owned three. The reason the have a curved buttplate is so that when you finally have had your fill and launch it downrange, your hand won't slip.
    I can't tell you how hard we laughed when Ruger redid the Mini-14 and advertised it as a precision weapon!

    I bought one about 18 years ago, Couldnt hit the side of the barn if I was in it.. While cleaning it last year I noticed a crack in the reciever so I called Ruger. I sent it back to them and they sent me a new Ranch rifle. The wood to metal fit was tight, the front sight was like a M1icon carbine sight, The stock was a little more hefty and had a recoil pad. A few slight changes in the action. It shoots pretty good at 100 yds. I can knock golfballs off the fence and with the old one I couldnt hit the fence.
