What is the proper name of this Enfield tool?

Bought this a few years back with the intent of mounting it to my work bench. For the record I did not add the beautiful weather stripping foam.

So a couple questions. 1. What is it proper name? 2. Was it a something more found in the factories or was it also used in armorers workshops? 3. Any ideas on age? 4. Would it have had some sort of pad on it originally or would just been bare woodAttachment 57109Attachment 57110Attachment 57111Attachment 57112Attachment 57113Attachment 57114

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. It's called a 'HORSES, Armourers' Used every day of the year by every Armourer in the world. Bare wood originally or you could tack a leather pad onto it.

Goes to the left or right of your bench vice and you use it to support ther weapon that you're working on. It swivels on the axis bolt so it overhangs the front face of the bench and in this position that the signs of the degree are.......... Ooops........., off at a tangent again..... When it is overhanging the front face of the bench it will support the vice held rifle or Bren or Browning etc etc.

    Remember them Tankie, Son, Skippy...........
