    Questions before images.

A Nam friend of mine (Army Sgt. who went to Cambodia and Nam looking for POWs and MIAs)

Cleaned out her alleged Gunsmith father and found a lot of weapons etc. Problem is that most have been hacked and she and I are going to preserve what we can. I will post images as soon as I can but I thought I would through out some questions.

First is a single shot (#37) Ranger .410. Cannot close bolt as there is a ramp shaped piece of metal in front of the bridge that will not let the bolt move forward. Got me what it is for.

Next one is to me what looks like a Japaneseicon #99 mounted on a Mauser and Japanese wood.

Looks to be Turkishicon capture with a Turkish writing on the rear sight and action. Has stacked cannon balls on receiver but nothing else. Stock is really oil soaked

There is a Mauser bayonet stud on the front!

Pics will be following as soon as the rain/snow stops!

Not sure as to which type but that's a Siamese mauser. Manufactured by the Japaneseicon at the Koishikawa arsenal.
Piece on .410 could be the ejector but will need more photo's to tell. Have you tried holding the trigger to the rear while inserting the bolt?

    Vintage Hunter,

Tried everything I knew to get the .410 bolt to go over that little piece of metal. I thought maybe somebody would of had a singles shot Ranger and knew what that metal piece was for. Thanks. There is always a metal punch and a large hammer!!

The writing and numerals are Siamese.
It is, as already mentioned, a Japanese-made Mauser.
For enlightenment as to the markings, go here:
    http://oldmilitarymarkings.com/japanese_markings.html
where you can see that the "Heaped cannonball" logo was used by Koishikawa (later: Kokura) arsenal.

Take off the buttplate, and you will very probably see a dovetail joint. The apparent crack right through the butt is, in fact, the line where the butt was assembled from two pieces of wood, and it is very common on Arisakaicon-style rifles that this glue joint has failed because of wood shrinkage. A repair is quite feasible, if you have the time to clean up the wood and scrape off the old glue.

The bad news, if you are a shooter. These rifles were chambered in 8mm Siamese, NOT 8mm Mauser. Reloading material will be difficult to obtain = expensive.

On the little Ranger shotgun, you DON`T have the front of the bolt lined up correctly & if I am not mistaken that`s the ejector & it just sits in a hole & its broken !........................

    Patrick,
When I first saw it and the split stock, I thought it might be Japaneseicon but I did not recognize it as Siamese (those two Disney Siamese cats just came to mind).Would not of known what is was with out the board's help.

I offered her $50.00 for it as it is Japanese. I got to check out the difference between a 8 mm and a Siamese 8 mm. I never knew that there was a difference. Thanks
