    Want to buy-sell-or trade ?

I went to the Quartermasters store and found want to sell and want to trade items, but no want to buy items. Is that sight used for items I'm looking for also? I've looked at some of the other forums, and it looks like it would be easier to just post on the one a member is into. Is there a no-no rule about posting a for sell, or want to buy item on one of the single weapon forums?

    Hi Bob,

There are a couple of want to buy ads now. I checked the rules and it looks like it's ok to put a WTB ad there. It says "Buy,Sell,Trade"

    I wish!

That's one of the planes in my CAF unit. I was the 'official' photographer for our unit for 10 years and s crew chief for our Navy R4D (C-47). I've spent a lot of time working on the Corsair though.

Here's some photos of our planes. All are 60 + years old and still working like the carbines from the same ear. I wonder how much of the Chinese stuff we have now will still be around and working 60 years from now.

    Harlan,
Does your unit have the Corsair restored by the folks at LTV/Vought?
I lost track of it after I transferred to the Missiles division in '90.

    YES, it's the same one.
LTV repainted it a few years ago after the Navy base was closed. The pilot who flew it there said it was weird landing on that huge deserted old runway.

Phil, email me and I'll send you photos I have of the original restoration. It's black and white photos, but LTV (Chance Vought) got their old timers together and restored it and it's still 100% correct.

Harlan, I was working there when the old bird was brought in and was able to watch the restoration in Hanger 20 (as best I remember) as it progressed.
Last time I saw it, it had Col. Thayer's name as the pilot on the side. Of course that was before he got in trouble with the Feds.
    email to follow.

Harland, thanks for the warbird pictures. I flew the F-86s in another life but always LOVED that Corsair!! Was a member of the Old Dominion Sqd. and also the Carolinas Wing. Thanks for the great post.
