BSA Mk III MARTIN USTED

I traded for 3 Mk III rifles yesterday. One was a BSA, no date, mag. cut off, windage adjustment, MARTIN on the receiver, and MARTIN USTED on the barrel. Who is Martin?

Alex martin of Glasgow Scotland.A famous gunsmith who "regulated" SMLE rifles for use at Bisley competitions.

Alexander Martin also did a number of P14 sniper rifle conversions at the beginning of WW2...
