Spanish Oviedo Remington Rolling block Rifle Value

    Hello,

The rifle has the Spanish crown and 1876, everything appears original as best I can tell.

I see no "R" near the receiver/barrel junction, so assume it is still in the original .43 Spanish caliber. Action is tight, with a very crisp hammer, barrel has strong rifling. There is some pitting on the the exterior of the barrel in several places. Please see photo's to help with the evaluation. Your help with the rifles value in USD is appreciated, thank you.

A very rough guess: about 300. Plus/minus, depending on what you want it for (a shooter, or decoration). Obvious a heavy minus for the split and generally mashed-up fore-end around the Bubba-ed cross-bolt.

"... so assume it is still in the original .43 Spanish calibre..."

NEVER assume that, especially not for an ancient BP rifle. And not even if the chambering is stamped on the barrel. Rolling Blocks went around the world, and were often pragmatically reamed out to take whatever ammo was available locally.

Thanks Patrick. FWIW, I think the cross bolt is unique to this rifle as it came from the factory.

    Cheers.
