Desk piece miniature Mark 48 torpedo real ?

    Hello ,

I have an interesting piece ,a miniature Mark 48 torpedo desk piece . It is made out of metal in a wooden box, on the plate it says Presented by Mark 48 Torpedo Project PMS402 . Can somebody tell me what this is and what this is worth ? I am new here and I do not know if this is the right forum. I hope somebody can help me. Thank you and regards from Holland.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Here's the poop on them... The US Navy -- Fact File: MK 48 - Heavyweight Torpedo Neat piece, looks like something given to a manager of a project or salesman or one of the major pencil pushers. The only way to find out it's value is put it on Ebay. Kind of an odd item...
    Regards, Jim

Pretty standard practice here for contractors who win a project to make a miniature of teh item and it usually ends up being presented to the Defence Minister

Yep and we have a secret agenda here in Aus as the Govt slashes defense spending and procrastinates who is going to build our next generation subs instead of keeping it local ? And the general public will soon be issued bait casters AKA sling shots for home defense and only 4 koondies each.........................

I used to have to key that prick Beasleys cipher gear once a week when I was posted in Canberra, some of the models he had in his office were to say the leastof outstanding workmanship.
