Hey guys! New member here. In the last several months I've been bit (hard) by the C&R bug. I'm active duty stationed in SoCal. I'm also pretty active on calguns if anyone here is familiar with them.

Anyways, I had a couple questions. First, I've been wanting to see if any of my rifles have service records still. I know, it's literally 1:10,000 chance that there is a service record but hey, couldn't hurt to look if there is a place to. Second, are there any sites I need to be watching for milsurp rifles that I'm not? I'm already on Simpson's every day as well as Samco and J&G Sales. I haven't really seen anyone else pop up that has much.

    Thanks all!

Welcome. What branch of the military, MOS? I think a specific service record for an individual weapon is rare. General information as to where it was used, by what country and sometimes the military unit is often available. Gunbroker.com, Gunauction.com and GunsAmerica are three more options for military surplus weapons and accoutrements. I have had especially good luck with Gunbroker. There are likely local gun shows in your area as well for hands on or eyes on possibilities. Regards. Tom

You can try us on because there are a small amount of records available, at least U.S. martial arms... As for Commonwealth, not so much.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm a Marine 6072 Ground Support Equipment Mechanic. Basically work on diesel engines and hydraulic systems for the equipment used by the air wing to maintain aircraft. Unfortunately, these days I find myself doing more paperwork than wrench turning, but that's a conversation for another day.

Sure! I'd love to run it through the records you guys have. Who should I PM with my numbers?

You can give them to us right here unless you're uncomfortable...send them to me if they're US martial arms. Thing is, there are many of us that have info on US stuff...someone wandering by may have info another doesn't. If they're Commonwealth, there are some here that can give you an educated guess but exact facts may not be possible.

I'm fine with giving it out on here. I'm an 03FFL and keep pretty good records so I'm not too worried about it. I've got a 1929 M1903 1313123 made by Springfield. I've got a Springfield Armory M1icon Garand and Underwood M1 Carbine. I'll have to get those SNs when I get off work though. I pick up my Winchester M1917 tomorrow or Thursday, depending on when I have time available.

    Hopefully we score!

As for online sites, I'm not crazy about the auction sites. Seems like a vast majority of the sellers refuse to sell to CA (can't entirely blame them either) so it blocks me out of a lot of awesome stuff. Any other good wholesalers/distributers?

Springfield rifle # 1311172 went to the Texas NG and the next one I have mentioned is 1321502 marked SA. Then the numbers are much higher, but still show Texas NG useage. Looks like that whole large block went there...
