Question Is this a proper sling for my 1903A3? What is it?

I recently won an auction for what I thought was a proper 1907 sling for my 1903A3. I was expecting a 2-piece 1907 sling but here is what I ended up with:

    What is it?

Commercial hunting sling. I have one that actually has a threaded stud in one end instead of the brass stud. Neat for a mid 50's or so sporting rifle but has nothing to do with an 03A3.

Actually, I think it's an 1887 sling for the Kragicon or Trapdoor. That brass stud should be solid and the frog looks correct. Marking too...how long is that bad boy? I'll trade you a 1907 sling for it...

I'll measure it, but it seems very long. Yes, the brass stud is solid. I think you are right about the M1887 sling.

If I keep the end with the brass button folded over, the sling measures just over 68" or so.

So... would this sling have been used on an early 1903? If so, how late might it have been used on a 1903?

It's not for the 1903s. Even the early 1903s had a different sling before the 1907. It's earlier.

If you have thoughts of "disposing" of it, let me know. I have a couple of Krags it would look good on! Maybe we could work out a trade.
