    Question Original M1887 sling **PICS**

I'm trying to decide if I should keep or sell this excellent condition M1887 sling. A value/value range will help my decision.

Leather is very pliable with no cracks, keepers appear to be original with one being slightly larger than the other, has a solid brass pin and the sling is nicely marked with "J.McD."

    What's it worth?

I'd look on line and see what they've been selling for.

That's the problem. I can't find any for sale. Lot's of reproductions but the only real one I found sold for $175 and it had cracks in it. It was also marked differently, so I don't know how comparable it is to mine.

That's the sort of thing I mean. The repros of course have no bearing and I wouldn't worry too much about the maker's mark. The condition and selling price. Watch for a bit before you decide. They do come up.

Your sling would probably be valued at $150-200 from what I see on line and at shows . But may not sell at that as they are a slow sellers from my experience. That's about the same price they were selling for 10 yrs ago. That is a nice one though. Ray
