Here is an original finish 5.4 Inland. Note consistency of the finish and the shadow near the gas cylinder where the type 2 band rested when the UNIT was being finished.

Here is the same carbine showing the receiver. On original finish carbines there is a distinct line in the finish where Inland sandblasted the top area prior to finishing the receiver. The line is clearly visible.

as to the lines, Not necessarily true, on early guns this was not the case. somewhere in the 5 digit I believe they started blasting.

No idea on late though, I am sure someone here knows better.

Kinda..... I've seen one example of a 5 digit Inland in which it appeared there had been no grit blasting of the receiver. Other than that, the finish appears to be grit blasted on most/all of the receivers, even early ones. What I think was taking place was that they were grit blasting the WHOLE receiver early on and then, for some reason, decided to just grit blast the upper half.

Thanks for sharing all the pictures and your recent purchase I have a 23,3xx with a 9-42 barrel and finish is consistent between the barrel and receiver. Best Chris
