    Hungarian Mosin Sniper M52

Dear all, I just acquired a new hungarian Mosin Nagant M52 sniper.

A very experienced collector, a friend of mine, says it is most probably a fake or perhaps assembled with original parts by some importer.

The main issue is the mismatch between the gun serial number BC5624 and scope number 4580.

Also the stock seems mismatched (serial 522)

(NOTE the 2230 on the right side of the receiver is the number that identifies this rifle in the Italianicon weapon catalogue, requested by law till few years ago.)

What do you think? I kindly request a validation from the forum

I add some photos, tell me if you need more and if you can access the archive, it's the first time for me!

I also add:I live in Italy so perhaps the prices are different but how much is the value of my rifle?

It is less than an equivalent original russian WWII PU mosin sniper?

    Many thanks to all!
    Giuseppe

The Hungarianicon Snipers in the US will not have the stock or receiver number. Scope numbers have no relation to the numbers on the gun.

Your barrel prefix code, BC, is correct for the M52 Sniper serial block. The base, mount and scope are real, as is the rest of the gun. It looks legitimate to me.

Here's mine with Sovieticon mount and optics.

Here's an example in the MKLicon for you to compare your M52 to:

    1954 Mosin-Nagant M52 Hungarian Sniper Rifle

Your rifle appears correct to me...

Yes also in this case the rifle number on the scope 7593 does not match with rifle serial number BC3955.The question is, why they are not linked again after a replaced scope, as they did with the Russianicon snipers?? Could this mean it is a fake as my friend suspects??

    Guiseppe,
Firstly welcome to the Forum. I too can see no issues with your rifle it looks a fair reflection of the breed with numbers everywhere.

    Ask yourself the following questions:

    1. "Is it firing right and doing what it says on the box so to speak?"

    2. "Did I pay a fair price for what was sold to me as an authentic rifle?"

    3. "Did you buy the rifle not the history alleged to have come with it?"

    Hope this helps you

Thanks Gil..I still do not know how it shoots!!
The main question is exactly the number 2, I paid 1100 euros..but for a fake sniper I should pay at most 400-500 euros!
In any case the answer from the kind members of the forum are making me feel I hit an original one!

I believe the one in the MKLicon went for 1,400 Euros, so it sounds to me that you did just fine...

I bought mine about 300km north of your country for € 350. It's also in the BC serial range. Usually no PU sniper should cost more than € 1000 in Europe. The more expensive ones are offered for about € 700.

Promo, are you so kind to post some photos? Do your scope and rifle serial numbers match?
...the main question is: what is your opinion regarding to originality of my sniper? It is a fake or not?

Let me ask another question: in your country, the hungarian PU sniper has more or less value of an equivalent russian PU sniper?

Here in Italyicon it seems that 350 -400 is the price of an M48, that is normal Hungarianicon Mosin Nagant (not sniper!)
200-250 is the price of a normal refurbished Russianicon Mosin (not sniper!!)
...and for 300-350 you can find a good PU scope repro, not the whole rifle!!!

    Thanks!!

I believe that your friend might be placing too much importance on the matching scope number.

You have a very fine and authentic M52 Sniper. The scope may not be original to the gun, but it is a genuine M41 (rare), and quite proper to the rifle.
