Hi guys, sorry for my delayed response, I've been in holiday for 1 week. Thanks for all your replies, they helped me a lot and confirm my concerns about this 1903a4. I will not buy this rifle. Hard to find a real one.

Cool, some guys have visited Luxemburg . When you are here, you must visit this museum, the best I've ever seen in Europe.

A4s with original barrels have a punch mark @ 6'Oclock. A neighbor worked on Remington barrels during WWII. He said barrels that did not need to be straightened were punch marked @ 6'Oclock for segregation. He also told me that the vast majority of punch marked barrels were the two groove broached barrels. I still have a new in wrap A4 barrel that is short chambered, never installed, and has a punch mark @ 6 'Oclock (ps its a two groove dated 7 43

Didn't the A4's have the serial number restamped upside down on the left side of the receiver since the scope mount partially covered it?

    No.

The A4 nomenclature and s/n were moved left and right respectively so as not to be covered by the Redfield Jr. base. A4 serial numbers also used a slightly smaller font than did the M1903A3.

A4's were built from scratch using new receiver forgings and only stamped once.
