Question Springfield 1903 history, etc. questions

Hi everyone. FNG here. Retired USMC. Hoping to learn a bit about my various rifles and guns I have hear for hunting. I have just inherited a U.S. Springfield armory model 1903 with serial numbers I374377. onthe side of the safety above trigger in stock is S.A. then under that is stamped GAW. to the right of that is a circle symbol with what looks to be crossed cannons? flip up rear adjust sight w/slide. A P stamped in stock behind trigger guard. No serial number on metal plate butt stock. wear the bayonett clips on under side has the letter H, the barrel stamped R29 , No other markings or numbers that I can see. Can anyone tell me the roots of my gun ? I'm trying to totally clean this gun up. it was sitting in a barn for 30 years. Trying to figure out how to best polish up the metal? It was all layered with crud and dirt and dust. Corrosin starting. Tips best way to restore metal on this weapon. Thankyou.

Well, a genuine barn find, sounds interesting!
From info given so far: Serial# dates to early 1931, barrel should be stamped on top under front sight with initials-flaming bomb- month/year of manufacture.(R29 may be month/year misread?)
SA/GAW with ordnance escutcheon(crossed cannons) is a SA rebuild stamp from WWII.(George A. Woody 1943-'44). The P is a proofing mark. The H means 'hardened'.
A good cleaning with mineral spirits, rags, and soft brushes to start with on stock and rusty metal. I use brake cleaner for metal to blast out crud from bore and small metal corners. Be sure to lube afterward.
You should disassemble rifle first. use this guide:
    Dropbox - 1903disassembly.pdf
Now, we love pictures! Lots of smarter guys to help ID parts etc. if you show "em. This will get you started though.

Is the rifle still in military condition?

    The SA/GAW indicates a mid-WWII overhaul and/or inspection.
