    WHat is a fair price.........Yugoslavian M1924 rifle

    Hello Milsurp Friends!

I have been looking for a Yugosavian M1924 rifle......not the M24/47.......and am wondering what a fair price would be for one in good to very good condition.....80%+ blue, Peter II stock cartouche; "All Matching", nice stock and good rifling. I am seeing prices topping about $400 for somewhat decent looking rifles, but mismatched. There is one listed at what appears to be a very inflated price, but looks like a nice rifle.

    Yugoslavian Model 1924 : Curios & Relics at GunBroker.com

This item has been listed/re-listed for some time. I emailed asking if they would accept an offer.

ANyone ever deal with the seller in this auction? They always seem to be very over priced.

    Thanks,

    Jason

I really can't recommend enough to anyone who is looking to buy Milsurp rifles to get a copy of Peterson's Standard Catalogue of Military Firearms. While no price guide is perfect, it will give a fairly accurate idea of values. I bought one six years ago and am still using this old version in my negotiations to good effect. They update every year or two years so mine is out of date. But prices on many items really haven't changed a lot.

In any case take this how you may: Excellent $600, Very Good $450, Good $300, Fair $175 and Poor $125.

I've found not many guys here like pricing things because of all the variables and when push comes to shove, the value of any rifle is what someone is willing to pay for it, not what someone wants to sell it for. Sold items on Gunbroker are another good way to find values.

When something sits on gunbroker unsold for a long period of time, the guy is asking too much. In this case, way too much. The rifle is probably in the Very Good range because it doesn't look brand new which sort of removes it from the excellent class. Your price of $400 is probably more accurate for the average rifle out there.

The Good old days at Big 5 Sporting Goods

    I bought 2 M24/47 Yugoslavian 8MM Mausers 10 years ago for $99.00 each
    in Pristine Condition.

Sorry i didn't buy more of them.

It's a buyers market out there now

Going rate for a Decent all Numbered M24/47 is about $350.00 now if you can find them.
