Since I had never received a reply from Tom to my PM, and I thought the details might be of interest to some here, I'll also post public what I had written for him:

    Hello Tom,

I recently had purchased P.14 (T) with matching numbers BSA scope from the Irish contract, the rifles serial is 234.622. The F sight on my rifle is mismatching numbers, the stock also had been sanded.

The seller of this rifle has another P.14 (T) rifle, but with the PPCo scope. I however do not know his rifles serial, but I know that the scope is mismatching numbers to the rifle. So this would confirm your theory on the mismatching PPCo sniper rifles which would have been among the Irish sniper rifles.

Probably a year ago Cabelas sold a P.14 (T) with a matching numbers BSA scope for $7,500, it came with a mismatching scope can. This rifles serial was 227.190, I had images of this rifle still saved. And just recently Rock Island Auction sold a P.14 (T) with matching numbers BSA scope, serial number being 237.736, also with a sanded stock and action looked reblued (but old reblueing) - which is your rifles serial number.

Aside of these I also have recorded P.14 (T) with matching numbers BSA scope and matching numbers scope can (!!!) serial number 217.020, plus leather lense covers, which had been offered on gunbroker.com. This rifle also has a matching numbers F-Sight and appears to NOT have been reblued and is in nearly mint condition (the best Irish rifle I had seen). I had received pictures from the previous owner of this rifle which are not that great - but he had owned some other P.14 sniper rifles.

From what I can read one of them is with the round type front scope bases which I would read as matching numbers to the PPCo scope with 217.284 (also the serial number on the action is stamped and not engraved, and without the W prefix). This rifle features a "No. 3 Mk.II" over broad arrow marked stock. And I also got pictures of a third rifle from this guy, showing a P.14 (T) rifle with the W suffix and square (= Irish type) front scope pads, serial number 80.213. While the stock on this rifle appears to have been sanded, the action still has the very nice original blueing - unfortunately I can't speak for the scope and the rifles serial number on this scope, because I did not get pictures showing these markings.

About one year ago there was a completely matching P.14 (T) with matching numbers BSA scope on gunbroker.com, starting "down" from $21,000. I believe it finally sold for $8,000. This rifles serial was 233.316. And 2013 a P.14 (T) with the square type bases but without scope was sold on gunbroker, this rifles serial was 238.457. It was reblued and had a sanded stock.

The website milpas.cc has/had pictures of matching numbers P.14 (T) with matching numbers BSA scope, serial number 223.853 - it is also pictured with a matching numbers scope can. And I believe also from this site I had saved pictures of non-reblued rifle 87.627 with matching numbers BSA scope.

Someone on the forum here from the US posted his P.14 (T) with matching numbers BSA scope, the serial number was 221.485. This rifle also featured a non-sanded stock and is not reblued. And the rifle from forgottenweapons.com belongs to Steve Hill from "Spotted Dog Firearms" has serial number 176.770, is originally blued with the round type scope bases and a non-sanded stock, and features a PPCo scope which had been lined out serialized to 179.835 and re-serialized to 168.063. And the owner of this site has one of the Stern rifles, plus I assume also imported from the US P.14 (T) serial 196.128 (stamped) with mismatching PPCo scope (for rifle 167.150, with it's matching scope can).

And to finally come to an end, probably 2 years ago a P.14 (T) was posted on gunbroker. The rifle had a different scope in what looked like it could be original rings, but the receiver had a part from it missing, appearing to have been torn out (in the area where you usually have the thumb cutout on K98kicon rifles, looking at it from top). To the very bad pictures of this rifle it looks like it was serial 76.726 (I'm not that sure on the second and last digit). It can be rather easily recongized, due to great miscolorations on the bolt too. It looks really abused. Stock is not sanded on this rifle.

So to summarize this in ascending order and adding the four rifles from the Bruce Stern collection:

76.726, square front base, non-original (Weaver) scope in original rings, not sanded, serial without W suffix
80.213, square front base, scope ????, original blueing
87.627, matching BSA scope, original blueing
95.046, matching (?) BSA scope, Stern Collection
176.770, non-matching PPCo scope, original blueing, not sanded, stamped serial without W suffix
196.128, non-matching BSA scope, original blueing, not sanded, to scope matching scope can, mismatching rear sight
217.020, matching BSA scope, original blueing, not sanded, matching scope can, matching rear sight
217.284, matching PPCo scope, original blueing, not sanded, stamped serial without W suffix
221.485, matching BSA scope, original blueing, not sanded
226.763, matching (?) BSA scope, Stern Collection - now belonging to the owner of this forum
227.190, matching BSA scope, reblued, sanded
233.316, matching BSA scope, reblued, sanded, non matching scope can
233.853, matching BSA scope, original blueing, not sanded, matching scope can
234.622, matching BSA scope, reblued, sanded
237.736, matching BSA scope, reblued, sanded
240.029, matching (????) Prism (PPCo?!) scope (on Irish contract square bases), Stern Collection
241.879, matching (?) BSA scope, Stern Collection

Probably others can throw in additional serial numbers?
