Great looking range. We used to have one like that at a small village called Mere. Closed to build a by-pass!

The range is unique in that it is now surrounded by multi million dollar homes that complain about everything and a tree hugging university that wants the property for concerts and bike paths. Also immediately over the top of the hill like fifty yards is turn three of a world famous race track for cars and motor bikes that has made many racers famous from Zanardi to Rossi. The track is also threatened for noise and traffic but makes so much money on race day as in millions of $$$$ for the county it is safe for a short time. This year they took down the long range steel because someone found a spent bullet in the pit area. James Dean, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen and many others cut their racing teeth here. I have even put rubber on the the track in the 1970's with 400cc and 750cc Honda bikes. I also took my advanced infantry training less that a mile from there.

    BEAUTIFUL scenery picture 3............
It looks like a Mk2 telescope with a red W on the side. This configuration was usually reserved for Mk2/1's that were modified with the desiccation facility.

Thank you Peter for the note on the red W. I received that scope and bracket from Pete Bloom the year before he passed. A real gentleman. RIP

What do you know of that barrel? I have a '43 BSA No4T that was made into a L42A1 clone that has a barrel like that. It is 25" and thhe muzzle end was contoured back so full stock can be installed.

    "After-Market" range pattern?

Not "fat" enough or correctly profiled at the muzzle for the L-42 series.

Looks a bit beefy to be from the ill-fated L-8 series as well.

Lithgowicon made a "similar", parkerized, 7.62 NATO No4 barrel for the range boys in the early to mid 1960s: Front sight-base lugs but no bayonet lugs.

    Sterling?

I don't really understand the question because the L42 barrel is a whole other animal in a 1/2 stock and couture. Is your barrel proofed ? gundoc can you clarify a bit more.

I think it would be preferable to have Brian Dickicon barrel up a MkII action that has been altered.

How about a picture of your project ?
