A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Not there yet. Going to fill in some other blanks with n/a, etc.

Slide info was off, it is E169A. I see how this form is one you probably don't get right the first time (or third) .

Here is what I have so far:

I have Inland #999762, although items like the stock and barrel are known not original, would the Carbine Club be interested in a submission on mine?

Darren: Seems like I remember something about that s/n being a bit unusual. In that case, I bet they would be interested.

HDSledge: Regarding your data sheet, I usually give up when I get about that far on one! I still think you need to make corrections on the mag catch type and the barrel (chamber) skirt. The pictures of yours look identical to the ones on my 400K Inland - and I checked different boxes. I'm not 100% sure I'm correct, though. - Bob

As a suggestion, maybe just put 3/4" for the length measurement at the back of the receiver.

Thanks Bob. You are correct about the mag catch I have the type 3. Not sure how I missed that since it is an easy one. Also will use 3/4" on length from cut to the back.

I attached pics from uscarbinecal30 and one of my chamber since I may be misreading where the skirt ends. I assume it is the short one since it matches the first example pic with the hollow cut a half inch away from the top of the skirt. Is my chamber skirt defined best by A or B?

    Thanks again.

    Long skirt

Also, parkerized is a finish type not a color.

Had my question answered by Ted. Seems it can be very subjective. I think my color for parked is a greenish grey. Not sure exactly how to name the colors but will give it some thought.

Looks like I am getting closer thanks to you guys. <0

You nailed every one. Just pulled out the slide stop and it is the top one.

Congratulations. Now put that one in the safe, go buy your next carbine and make out a data sheet on it! - Bob
