    SMLE trainer info request

I have acquired a Canadianicon (?) 22 cal trainer built on an old (7XXX s.n.) #3 BSA. It has a globe type front sight and a rear sight I can't identify. I don't know from SMLE's; the only other one I have is a .308 Ishapore. Any ID info greatly appreciated.

PS. I am new to this forum so I hope this is the correct place to post this . . .Attachment 77067Attachment 77068

That would make sense as they'd have had them around.

The amount I see popping up on non-Ross rifles or unattached makes me wonder how many rifles have been scrapped out for the rear sight, or if they just made a piles of spares.

Well, when you see a PCMR Winchester, examine the rear sling swivel if it still has it. They were Ross...the front was LE. The front bands were made here in Workshop from steel sheet.

It's a Cooey Sight for the .22 training rifle.
On the right side vertical arm you should see HWC in an Oval.
There were two sights fitted to the original Canadianicon trainers, the other was the BSA/PARKER fitted to a Tippens folding side mount.
