    Re-modeling a No. 1 MK III*

    Hello there!
    I'm a part of a small indie game studio, developing a WW1 anti-war game. Currently I'm creating a 3D model of a No. 1 MK III*.

This task has been turning out to be way more difficult than expected, though, mainly because most of the diagrams available via Google show the weapon from the side while, ideally, I'd need diagrams from the back / front or top view as well. This makes it difficult to model certain parts, especially the body of the gun. The exact measurements of the bolt, its lugs and the head alone would be very helpful already.

I've spent hours getting background information and watching youtube videos which was increadibly helpful for understanding how all the parts of the gun work but it's still not enough to make it at least 98% accurate and authentic. If you could provide any more exact information or diagrams on this gun, I'd be more than happy to see it.

Why don't you put an advert in a Germanicon gun magazine or re-enactors web site asking a gun owner near to you for some advice. There will definitely be one, believe me! Then when you have made contact you'll be able to explain what you need more directly. Just my idea of how life works

Thanks for the hint, these galleries are great! The photos there might not provide any numbers but they still tell me enough to get things working, I guess.

Interesting idea. We are actually in touch with some historians from the local university who might know someone as well. Unfortunately, time is short, I've got plenty of other tasks that need to be done and this one has already taken too many hours. Sad story, but that's how my life works.

Like Peter Laidlericon says, these rifles are not rare. Millions were made, and millions still exist.
I am certain some re-enactor or collector in the Hamburg area will have one, that you can pass through a 3-D scanner.

    You could also try
Lee Enfield SMLE No.1 Mark III, WWI, deactivated rifle - zib-militaria.de

Or post again on this site labelling your post for "Looking for SMLE owner in Hamburg area"

I'm sorry if I gave the impression that your help is not appreciated. It might not work for me at this point but that doesn't mean it wasn't helpful.

Anyway, I'll keep you guys updated.
