    NZ Carbine Armours Drawings?

does anyone out there have the armourer's drawings for the NZicon carbine?

    like these:

    pictures borrowed from rifleman.org.uk

i'm specifically interested in a copy of the area showing the front sight, so I can a) find out what is correct and b) try to make a copy for myself.

    thanks
    henry.

Not sure that they would exist, with only 1000 odd made. You could try Ian Skennertonicon, i know he did reprint some odd stuff a few years ago.

There is a bloke over here that makes those nose caps, and by all accounts they're not
bloody bad. Investment cast and linished by hand afterwards. They look pretty good.
I'd buy one if I had a carbine project...not yet anyway.

Correct, and they are very good. The OP was looking at a NZicon carbine though, it has provision for a Patt 88 Bayonet to be fitted.

    thanks you gentlemen.

the sight in the photo set above looks a lot like a martini carbine sight, but there is a photo somewhere of NZicon carbine showing a post instead of the barleycorn of the martini. I have also seen a picture of a sight with an adjustable post like a SMLE and am wondering if it is a variation.

From what i understand the NZ carbine utilized the Martini Enfield Carbine barrel

I had a trawl through the "rifleman.org" link, but did not manage to find these drawings.

    Is there a "secret"?

I just stumbled across them doing an image search...

here is the link to the page that has the images and links to "Instructions for Armourers" 1897, 1912 and 1931 : http://www.rifleman.org.uk/Instructi...20-%201897.htm

I even remembered the extra "er" in armourer this time.

The Lee Enfield NZ carbine used a barrel with similar exterior dimensions and taper, but it is not made from a Martini barrel blank as some believe. The nocks shape is different and the stub is a wee bit longer on the Lee.
A Lee Enfield barrel can be shaved to fit a Martini, but a Martini barrel will fall a coontaire short of fitting a Lee. Headspace is miles out.

The front sight block on the NZ carbine is the same as the Martini Enfield unit, yes. Small machined block, barleycorn with protector ears.

The Trade pattern 'carbine fitted to accept P1888 bayonet' used a regular Long Lee rifle sight block.
