    colt govt model?

    Hey all;

    I am new to the 1911 market, though paying attention, i just want to go through the extra hassle with handgun purchasing, and looking for good deals
    (stupidly i passed on all of them)

    I was offered this for sale for a carbine plus cash, but i dont know much about it. What is it worth? when is it from?

    last gunshow, guy had an ithaca for 1400, that i was thinking of going back for, or hopefully find a rem rand shooter for less than 1000. worse case, buying one of the new springfield milspec ones, or if anyone has one

    thanks for your help

    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. It is a Colt Government Model, which means it is a commercial and not a military pistol, made in 1925. It was originally finished in a beautiful oven blue finish, but has been given a phosphate (Parkerized) finish at some time in it's past. The slide would be serial numbered to the frame under the firing pin stop plate. I would think the pistol would be valued in the $750 range.

    It would have had walnut grips originally instead of the later Coltwood grips.
