    Gus Fisher

Hey, I'm a Virginia resident and I'm looking to have my M1 Garand rebarreled sometime soon (within a month or so). Someone recommended that I get in contact with a Gus Fisher, whom I'm told visits this forum.

Anyone know what kind of turn around time I'm looking at?

    Are you here, Mr. Fisher?

I'd prefer to have my rifle back as quickly as possible. I'm leaving for several months in June (USMC bootcamp) and will likely be very busy after that for a while. Not sure if I'll have a chance to pick my rifle up.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I believe Gus Fisher is still in Mechanicsville Virginia near Richmond. I haven't been to a gun show in over a year but I usually see him at the gun shows in Virginia with a table.

I called that number and got a message that it was disconnected or no longer in service.. hmm.

I'll have to hit up one of the bigger shows when my new barrel comes in.

I thought that number might be old as it's a 703 number and I think that was in Quantico. You never know these days though about phone numbers. The last I heard he is in Mechanicsville VA.

    That's what I heard aswell.

I guess while I'm on the subject, does anyone know of any other decent smiths in VA, In the case I can't connect with Gus?

I've rebarreled mausers before but I don't have any '06 headspace gauges and don't really want to play with leveling sights. I think this one is a little out of my league.
