    U. S. Military Shotgun Manual

I know there is a U. S. Army manual that covers shotguns from the World War 2 period. I tried "googleing" different phrases but nothing stood out. Antone know the specifics of this manual?

I don't know about Army manuals, but there are at least two WW2 War Department tech manuals for all shotguns, as follows:

    1. TM 9-285 (Sept. 21, 1942) - "Shotguns, All Types"

    2. TM 9-1285 (Nov. 25, 1942) - "Ordnance Maintenance, Shotgugns, All Types".

I forgot to mention that one of these manuals was re-printed several years ago I think by Desert Publications. Although the contents is a duplication of the War Dept. manual, the cover is entirely different and silver in color.

Another useful manual to look for is TM 9-2200 "Small Arms Material and associated equipment". It was updated and republished periodically. (i have copies from 1943 and 1949.

This book does not gor into the detail thet the other twoo manuals do but its essentially a catalog of what was available to the troops along with illustations and basic facts.

    Regards,

    Jim

Try this link HyperWar: U.S. Army Technical Manuals, scroll down to the ordnance manuals and download TM 9-285, titled "Shotguns All Types". It is in PDF format and covers all the shotguns from WW1-WW2. Good manual with take down instructions of all the military shotguns.

    Tm 9-285

I have a .pdf version of the US War Department Technical Manual 9-285 Shotguns, All Types September 21, 1942.

I'm happy to e-mail it to anyone who wants it, just send your e-mail address to me at sleepla8er@hot-shot.com

This TM was found online, but I don't remember where and the maximum upload file size on the forum does not permit me to post it here.
