(model 30) Sort of a model 1917

Anyone here collect or know a lot about the Remington Model 30 express. I just found one I believe to be in original condition. My research has turned up conflicting information regarding the sights and barrel length. I can give specifics if anyone can help. Thanks

There were a half dozen variations on the Remington Model 30. Varying length barrels, calibers and stocks were the main differences.

Not "sort of", the Remington Model 30, 30R, 30 Express, 30S, 34 and 720 WERE Enfields. Every one of those rifles was made using a WWI leftover M1917 receiver and bolt, plus other parts including .30 barrels. The changes were done quite cleverly, and many folks to this day do not know the receivers, bolts and trigger guards were all from the M1917.

FWIW and to give some idea of wartime production quantities, when the Remington contract was cancelled in 1919, Remington had on hand about a two-week supply of most parts; that was more than enough for the company's civilian production for the next 21 years.
