    US&S on GunBroker

    I noticed this;

    http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=128266126

    on Gunbroker. It looks like a very worn original finish, mostly (if not all) correct US&S. But then I noticed that in picture three the "Swissicon" in Swissvale looked king of funky. Then I saw in picture 18 some notched opposit it in the ejection port. So I started to wonder if it might be a rewld. If it is it looks really nicely done. There aren't any good shots of the inside of the slide in that area to be able to tell better. Any thoughts, is it a reweld, or am I just being paranoid?

    Thanks

    Howard

    It looks to be kind of miss strike on the Swissvale.

    It has obviously been shot a lot and rusted, a lot.

    No reserve and very small bids on it so far.

    But, it will probably bring big buck before it ends. Perhaps this will establish a base price for a worn out pos US&S?

    Looks like an original pistol that someone used emery cloth on to remove some rust. The slide marking appears not to have been done correctly the first time, and maybe after an adjustment to the roll die, it was done again. The metal finish on the slide is typical US&S, and I doubt anyone could duplicate the marks left by the milling process.

    This is just a guess, however I am sure that the slide was placed in some sort of jig to hold it during the stamping process, and the jig shifted while the stamp was being rolled. Thus the slight offset.. Also note the "A" in U.S.iconA. All the US&S pistols that I have owned show the same "A". It is slightly taller than the other letters..
