Is this normal around the firing pin hole??

As I was going through some demil 45 parts I have I seen a few with a insert in the firing pin hole face as in pics. Was this a rebuiding or normal in certain years?

The recoil plate was installed to prevent excessive wear in that area, as the slides were not fully heat treated at that time. Colt began using them in 1937, with the first being press fit. This was changed to a screwed in recoil plate, and their use became standard for all manufacturers of the 1911A1 in late 1942.

    That's an authorized repair...

for a firing pin hitting off-center, two way to do the plain press-fit bushing or the recommended threaded bushing.
your remains looks like what was a restorable forearm.
