Ross MK III, Duffel Cut
These just don't come around every day. So, I took plenty of pics, in the shade and sunlight, to show and share.
Ross MK III, 1914, in .303 British, straight pull.
Not perfect as pictured, missing the swivels on the trigger guard (ground off) and buttstock. I have since found and installed a trigger guard with swivel intact. Still looking for that rear sling swivel post!
It has a repaired duffel cut under the rear band. Stock can't be heavily sanded, but perhaps cleaned, as it is a little on the lighter color side. But it isn't butchered down for sporting, and it's in incredible condition for a WWI Veteran.
Likely won't be upgradable in my lifetime. Enjoy, and thanks for looking.

That is a beauty. Brought home by a vet most likely with that cut?
Lots of Canadians moved south after WWI, on both coasts, so could have come with one of them. Could even have been a US vet who took a fancy to the Ross and did some horse trading behind the lines.
No unit markings so straight from stores?
Definitely an interesting piece. Pity there's no history with it; did you try and track it down?

I have not contacted Evergreen Aerospace Museum. Otherwise, I wouldn't know were to begin!
I have been to the Armory at the Citadelle in Quebec City. The fortification is next to the Ross Rifle factory. They have some awesome firearms on display, BTW.

So it came from Evergreen Aerospace Museum? They should have accession records, but those might only tell you who the donor was.
On the other hand, that person might still be around to tell you what they know!
