Note: After you click on images to ENLARGE them, you may find they automatically size smaller in your browser's window making them harder to view. The auto sizing is your browser's way of keeping images entirely within the screen size you have set. Move your mouse pointer to the bottom centre of the pic and you will see an options panel appear. There will be a small square box next to the large X, which will have a pointer arrow sticking out of it. If it's illuminated, it means the pic you're viewing can be enlarged, so click on this box and the pic will EXPAND and open to its normal size. Low quality pics shown below are for illustrative purposes only and the quality of the images within the drawings of the PDF file download are much greater.

    Observations:
Note: Scanning of drawings provided courtesy of MILSURPS.COM member "mudpuppy".

These drawings of the Enfield No.4 Mk1(T) sniper No.32 scope mount, pads, pad screws, thumb screws and cheekpiece come from the "MOD Pattern Room" and are "restriction free", graciously provided for the benefit of the MILSURPS.COM members by mudpuppy, who mentioned that the pad drawings have been used to repair many a spigot that has been stripped out on the old girls.

    Collector's Comments and Feedback:

    1. I requested and received another copy of the original drawings from the Pattern Room, but they were in no better condition than what I already had. So, I had to sit down with a caliper, my copies of the drawings, an original set of pads and rifle to confirm what was on the drawings. I edited the drawings and re-typed all the relevant information so it is clear now. ......... (Feedback by "Mudpuppy")

    2. I've bought and installed several reproduction cheekrests. My wife got good at installing them and I did the last one after she got fed up with it. Since the stock tapers they do need to be fitted. They should sit flush front and back, and tend to open up a bit towards the back. My wife used a crayon and moved it back and forth to show where it was contacting, then used a sanding drum set on a drill to remove material.

On my LB sniper, I measured on the top from the beginning of the buttsocket to the nearest center point of the cheekrest and got 3 inches exactly. On the buttstock I have in hand it's 2 5/8".

The holes can be countersunk with a larger bit size, drilling down just enough to put the screw head below flush and just wide enough so the screw fits in.

The slot head steel screws that came with the repro are 1 3/16" and 1 7/16" long, not including the head. The shorter one goes to the front, as the stock is shallower there, close to the stock bolt.

You should hold the cheekrest on the stock, open the bolt and make sure the bolt doesn't hit it which it will if it's too far forward. Then position it so that when you close your eyes, and put your cheek on it, then open your eyes, your eye is looking right down the scope with the reticle centred.
