Love to wring one out for a minute, Gumn't paying for ammo of course.
Army Air Defense Artillery pretty much abandoned guns in the Fifties in favor of missiles like the Nike and the Hawk. But both the M42 Duster and the M45 Quad Fifty proved themselves useful in Viet Nam. Despite the popular notion that it was the Huey that hauled everything, the truth is an awful lot of the "beans and bullets" traveled in the lowly deuce and a half. Trucks travel by road and roads are where the ambush will be. No airplanes to shoot at, but the truck carrying a Quad Fifty found a new role.

Nice toy
DaveHH used to drive over there, wonder if he had any of these guntrucks accompany him on runs? Where's he at anyway?
More pretty pictures--a great restoration & superbly done model.
I posted this in another thread talking about the quad fifty its not a nice thing to find yourself on the receiving end of apart from it being on the trucks he says they also used it in perimeter defense makes sense when you think of those 600 or 700 grain bullets flying around point blank just 1 would definately penetrate more than a few VC in the wire.
Interesting they were all electric 5 minutes guns 5 minutes rest & charge guns and battery says he does not like using the generator too noisey! and he owns a quad fifty really..........I for one would not want to feed that puppy ammo would cost thousands..:yikes:
