Ammo
I just got through filling out a form to get a case of Aguila M1 Carbine ammo and a spam can of HXP .30 M2 Ball from the CMP. Hopefully the demand will slack some and it'll be delivered while I'm still young enough to enjoy it. I am especially looking forward to getting the Aguila. My stock of M1 Carbine ammo is low enough I'm just not shooting it and I have to admit I have a bit of "Carbine withdrawl." The $258.00 is looking like money well spent since just the Carbine ammo would cost about $300.00 - $400.00 if I bought it retail around where I live now:(.

Is carbine ammo. still hard to find? Is Aguila M1 carbine ammo. as good as any?

Aguila Ammo
Carbine ammunition is almost impossible to find here in Houston and when you do it's usually running $30.00 for 50 round boxes of FMJ of any manufacature. I have used Remington FMJ from the beginning of the time I got my carbine and it's good stuff. It's also just about completely unobtainable here now.
As to the Aguila, I find it pretty high quality stuff. It cycles the action reliably and is accurate, BUT it is loaded to below mil spec velocities which means at any sight setting it's going to shoot below the point of impact of mil spec. If you have adjustable sights its not a problem, just go up one click. Flip sights you'll probably wind up using the long range aperture to hit about where you were with the short range one, more or less, give or take.

Art,
The lcl. gun store/range i go to here in marietta GA. has never ran out of aguila M1 carbin ammo. at one time about a mo. ago they got down to six box's of 50 rounds $20.95 a box. I bought 3 box's. I went back today just to ck. They had 13 box's on the shelf and told me they have never ran comp. out. Still $20.95 Plus tax. The guy did tell me that they would only sell 5 box's to a cust. at one time. I dont think it's the lack of ammo. I really think it's the hording of it because of the fear of the new adm.
I think the worst is over.:beerchug:

Hording does seem to be a problem, but I don't know about it being near bottom yet. Still can not find alot of various kinds of ammo. Carbine is rare around here and is bought out at $27 a box when people find it. Saw that .380 auto shot up to $69.97 (yep, thats right) on line. We also do not have primers available in this area either. I just don't go to the range for fear of not being able to replace what I shoot at affordable prices. Trying to treat this like the middle of winter... its just hard to think "snow at the range" when its a sunny 75 degrees outside!!!!

I ordered 30 carbine ammo from the CMP on Jan. 22, got a hit on the 2nd on my credit card. Hopefully I'll see it soon.

Tired Retired and I have been watching ammo availability and price here in Fort Worth and have found it to be in very short supply. What does show up is usually $27 and up. FMJ only. Today I visited Academy Sports and checked their supply. No Carbine ammo. When I asked the clerk, I just got the old smile and head-shake. He said he'd not seen it in a very long time. I don't think our supply problem is going to be fixed any time soon..........

Stopped at my local WallyWorld last week and they had 4 boxes of Carbine ammo -----at $47.50 -------a box. When I can find the pills I can still reload it for around $13. a box
Congrats Stonwall I ordered mine the 2nd week of Dec it still isn't here when I called they said it may take up till aug to ship. I'm glad I still have over 400 rounds of LC on hand. I shoot my reloads when I'm not shooting one of my other rifles
