I ran into a technical problem.The message is about removing the bayonet stud from the nose piece. I need to do this to begin a restoration. I do apologize for the incomplete message.
There should be either a cross pin or a spring with a stud holding them on. Then they slide forward off of the wood. The outer sleeve you see is involved. They may have rust binding them right now...just look at them. Maybe a bit of tapping with a small hammer will free them up.
These out of South America? They are supposed to be parkerized, so ship them off the Chuckindenver for a nice park job. Good luck with the bores.
It sure would be easier if you just box them up and send to Chuck. They'll come back like new...except the bores. Unless Chuck has pipes lying around...?
They both look really filthy. A good cleaning(not too aggressive) would do wonders. The bores is the important thing. They may be toast or just very dirty. Are they 7.62 or 8mm?
