Saving a 'semi' bubbafied M44

So I managed to snag this polish m44 for a song at a local gun show. But once I got it home and started researching how to replace the bayonet I ran into my first problem, I know that I can buy the lug that i need but I have no idea on how to reattach it. Another problem is that the trigger is beyond touchy,but I think I have figured that one out.

I have to say, a friend shoots a Polish M44 and it's beautifully made and finished, they have to be among the best made of the breed.

The whole affair is a sleeve and you have to replace the whole sleeve. That's a press or you can heat it and slide it off. That "Slide" is a very loose term. I'd be tempted to just leave it. Don't know where you'll find another without buying a donor gun. The trigger is easier, just replace the parts.

They have the trigger and sear bits too. Don't know if you can import them though...

Like the AK barrel fittings, or the Simonov, all press fitted with a multi ton press. They'r meant to stay until the original factory does a rebuild. Could be done but the layman needs imagination.

My buddy just suggested cutting the lug in half and welding it. I'm not sure about the welding part but he might have something there.

I had the same exact thought, haha.
Maybe even get two to cut them exactly in half for a flush fit.

Hey does anyone know what the bayonet lug is made of? like is it normal steel or hardened?

Yah I know that the rifle is common and restoring the bayonet is not even a back burner project more like a 'if I can' sort of thing. And I am ordering the parts for the trigger when I get paid and I had the idea to get a mosin stock and modify it to make a knock off M38.
