Is that an 1899 Argentine Cavalry Carbine?
The one we have in the South America - Milsurp Knowledge Library is a 1909 and it's a different mount.

Looks like a 1891 Engineers Carbine, but something's not right with the nosecap. A few thousand 1891 Cavalry Carbines were modified to be Engineer Carbines by the addition of the bayonet lug and side sling attachments. The designation is 1891/31 engineer carbine. It used a highly modified, cut down M1879 Rolling Block bayonet.
