Hard to say but it would work OK for me. I just won't pay a premium...
hi i have heard of these conversions but that is the first one i have seen taking note of the rear sight elevation ramp it was set up for mk6 ammunition i could handle something like that in my collection
The rear sight is from a M1903 Greek Mannlicher-Sch.
I'd want to turn the barrel back one turn as I was assembling one, then I could use a SAAMI reamer and get a reasonable amount of loadings from brass before cracks. Would be very doable...
The rear handguard and a post 1925 DE mark. That at least was replaced.
The use of a SMLE forend makes me suspect that it is a fake, as the barrel is shorter than it should be, it is not 25.2 inches long.
A number of years ago there was a very nice write up in the old Shotgun News were Reid Coffield shows in detail how to make this conversion . It seems that the barrel threads on the Martin and the Enfield are the same size . He used the front end of a standard Mk III complete with stock and sights for this project .
The barrel shank is really close between and the thread is the same. The shank length is close but not quite...it would allow one turn to come off so you could ream the chamber to give it a SAMMI ream. You'd loose very little #1 Mk3 barrel length and the wood could be carefully shaped like you see. I had a new barrel a while back but sold it to a forum member here...would have enjoyed having one of these if I did it myself.
