Hi gang,
Has anyone a source for replacement brass or steel cheek riser screws? They don’t have to be original, just need to play the part and preferably in Canada if possible.
Thanks in advance!
Jon

They are, I believe, 8 gauge wood screws with slotted heads; the the front screw being 1 1/2" long the rear being 1 1/4" long. This is so the rear screw doesn't risk breaking into the cavity for the oil bottle.
Nice tutorial at DS solutions: Fitting a New Sniper Cheek Piece
Would absolutely concur. I've never seen brass screws on unmessedabout with 4T's. The only time I've seen brass cheekpiece screws on Enfield snipers is on the Lithgow HT's.
Brass or steel, a decent supplier of cabinet-makers fittings should have them in stock. Look for places that specialize in parts, fittings and finishing material for furniture restoration.
For old school slot drive and non-plated fasteners, I order from these guys: Blacksmith Bolt & Rivet Supply
Their stuff is already chemical blackened, and priced right.
Wow lots of help here!!
Thanks everyone!!
eBayUK still has old school slotted wood screws listed.
Personally when I have seen old school slotted wood screws for sale, if they have been at a good price and I have thought that they may be of use to me, I have purchased them.
I do exactly the same. It's becoming harder to find slotted screws that are also not plated! If the OP cannot source any suitable in Canada I can probably find him a set if he wants to pm me.
Sorry - I couldn't resist. I have more than I need if anyone wants a pair and will cover my costs - pm me. The 1.25" ones have just started to get the odd rust spot - I can feel some WD40 coming on. It took a long time to find these as they are not stocked in any hardware shops anymore.Attachment 111977
