Not sure if this question is suitable for this forum and, if not, I apologize. I just acquired a Parker-Hale heavy barrel on an Enfield action in 7.62x51 caliber. It is only the barrel, action and forearm. I need a buttstock & magazine to begin restoration of this firearm. My question is will a no4 mk1 buttstock fit this rifle and will the Pakistani 7.62 magazine fit? Again, if wrong forum for this question, my apologizes.

I think you have a Parker Hale T4. You need a monte carlo butt with recoil pad...should be able to pick one up on ebay. I don't know "pakistani" mag.....this requires a proper Enfield 7.62 mag or a very good reproduction one. nice rifle when done. Ron
Sounds like set of reproduction ENVOY wood from the UK is what you need. Mags turn up on eBay, the proper Enfield made one that is. If you're lucky you have the correct extractor, if not, it may not matter. Is the underside of the mag well milled out for the 7.62mm mag?
If I read this right, then a standard No. 4, Mk1 buttstock won't work? Haven't checked if the Pakistani arsenal 7.62 mag fits. Need to get on this one to find out if I'm wasting time and money. What might the barrel be worth if I can't get a complete rifle put together? Very sharp bright bore.
A standard No.4 butt will work fine. I've seen folks install the Indian mags but I have no idea if they function since there's no positive ejector. Email me at the shop if you want a proper Enfield patter 7.62 magazine.
I don't think that I'd totally agree about a .303" extractor 'may work' analogy Surpmil for several reasons. I suppose when it comes to puish and shove, it will pull the spent case from the chamber 98 times out of 100. But we found that some Armourers that didn't know the difference would put .303" extractors into L42's and 39's and if the chamber is tight, the........... anyway, the primary extraction facility doesn't operate to its full potential for reasons that I won't go into.
The second, important point is that it is the deeper claw that engages the deeper rim of the 7.62mm case is what pushes the spent case further over to the left and into the shallowing taper of the body-side. This friction can and does tip the case out of the rifle well before the case ever comes into contact with the ejector on the (enfield) magazine.
Mind you, I suppose if you're laying on some grassy range counting scores with an L39 it wouldn't matter much. But if you're up ahead of the front line with an L42 you mightn't feel so comfortable!
I forgot to mention that I also have 7.62 extractors, both reproduction from Charnwood Ordnance and original Enfield plus nos extractor springs. It's always a good idea to use a new spring for reasons mentioned above by Peter.
Blimey Brian........., that's a nice find. I haven't seen genuine Enfield 7.62mm extractors for absolutely ages! As a matter of interest, when we had mixed fleets of .303|" and 7.62mm Brens, you'd often find jammed up guns with the wrong extractors
I don't have tons of them. I just found the little packet of C.O. repops on my disaster area of a bench! I thought I was out of them. Need any for the spares drawer? Not that they ever break. Just curious: Did they break often in hard Army service like the sniper schools?
Generlly speaking they used to wear out on the tip of the bottom of the claw and strangely, the axis pin/screw hole used to elongate, just through use really. But original ones must be like the proverbial rocking horse manure
