I recently bought a 1T Inglis with Canadian and British markings. It has markings on the front grip strap: SPF/516. Any thoughts on their meanings?

The Dutch also had a relatively large number of Inglis pistols during the post-war years. I would wonder if your pistol may have been one and marked on the front strap, but that is only a thought.
Singapore Police
Sir, Your suggestion Singapore Police is a possible match. Singapore Police Force (SPF), weapon number 516. Similar to Singapore markings on Colts. Thanks. Regards- Jim.
Peter, having served as a British Army Armourer in Malaysia back in the day, would know far better (and more) than I would. Singapore it is.
Large batches of their stuff used to come through our workshops and it was all marked with these initials AND FMP which was Federation of Malaya Police before whenever it was that they changed. Funny how you remember things. The Inspector who was in charge of their small arms stuff was a Eurasian called Mr Soliano. Another great bloke I seem to remember who treated us all to little treats. The Police out there were always VERY smart in their starched KD's
Thanks everyone for your help. Warm regards- Jim
I have a Singaporian Police Force Bren Mk3 and a Lithgow L1A1 with SPF numbers, my Bren is SPF20 and I think Kev G has SPF 19.
Probably went through our workshops BP. They did have a lot of kit and absolutely zillions of old wartime issue Webley Mk4's. As .38 ammo was always a bit short and I think our ammo allocation was two-rounds per-man per-year per-haps. The Police used to bring us .38 ammo to use. Their kit was always quite good but you just couldn't keep the ravages of wet/damp/moisture away and the daily monsoon rains lasted from the mid August right through until the end of July. We used to pack the cylinder axis with PX11 but they'd clean it off. Out of sight and out of mind, the rust would start again
