Vickers MG Study: L1053 with battle damage
In the next episode of our 'gun study' series, we take a look at .303-inch Mark I 'L 1053' that dates to June 1915. This gun is particularly interesting on two counts: firstly, it has sustained battle damage and has had a series of repairs to the barrel casing and, secondly, it is stamped with 'E Y' for emergency use ball firing only - something not usually seen on anything other than rifles.
