Old metal and dangerous. 1940 Ford coupe deluxe.

I've been working on this lately. I figured you guys might like to take a peak at it, might get your minds off of the quarantine and absurdity of the modern world.
This specimen from the arsenal of democracy is the 1940 ford coupe deluxe. It has a 9T flat head with a Holley 94 two barrel carburetor. It's has a Columbia rear end so it can do highway speed. Straight pipes on it that wakes up the neighborhood if we start it before 8 am on a Saturday. It was resorted a number of years ago but i have been keeping it up lately. It's complete with the ford jack and tool set in the trunk.
This is my grand dads car but he is a little too old to work on so i take care of that lately. My grand dad bought it out of a barn for $40 in 1951. Heck of an investment.

Well, you sure got my attention! That's the finest '40 I've seen in quite awhile. I've always wanted, but never owned one. I've had (2) '47 Coupes, the first when I was 15 and the second when I was 35. About 1962 I met a "Hot Rodder" named Dan Kilcup from Portland and had him do machine work on a Flathead for the first '47. In the back of his shop he had the neatest '40 Coupe I had ever seen. I ran on to him at swap meets and races over a period of many years and he always remembered me - he was a great guy! Several years after he passed away, the car was sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction for $220,000. I thought that was quite a tribute to the man, and the car he had built so many years earlier. You are very fortunate to have such a fine example of one of the best and most popular Fords ever built. At least the radiator on Dan's Coupe looks the same as yours! - Bob

Very nice, I am using my lockdown time to strip and refinish the bed off my 1953 Chevy Pickup. Owning and running a classic is a labour of love.
