Boer War Bayonet
Hi,
I recently had a guy on craigslist post that he had a "WW2 German Bayonet" for 75$ so I bit, figuring that for 75 if its german and WW2 i couldn't do too bad depending. So we correspond and he says it may be WW1 instead. I ask for a picture and cross my fingers that its a sawback. Well that picture came and it was...but not one like I ever have seen.
I believe its a Transvaal bayonet from the Boer War but a don't really know anything about it so any info would be much appreciated!

hope you bought it as these are rare pieces, made for the Traansval many ended not being delivered down their, they are one of those blades that world collectors want for their collections, it took me several years to pick up mine and 75 was not what i paid :-(

Yeah I picked it up. Wow I figured it would be worth something being a sawback but I didn't know it was rare!

That is a very nice bayonet. And a Sawback to boot .NICE FIND!!!!!
I can't find any info in My Jane's notebook about this model

From what I can tell only 400 were made and only 50 delivered to the South Africans.
