If you find one it will be luck. There was one floating around at a few MI gun shows awhile back but was finaly sold. It had a 33/40 German bolt in it.
Thanks Dave, that's probably why She is so desperate1
Very uncommon gun. Not many made, just for starters and then a thing called World War Two came along. Just not many around. I have heard there are some in Uruguay in 7mm. I have no idea if that lot will ever get sold.
they were imported back in the hayday of surplus rifles, 50's & 60's. S&D Book Store had them in 12-68 for 30 bucks, for instance. Hunters Lodge had them in May 66 for 45 bucks. I think many of these were sportered, as many milsups were back then and the rest just dried up into collections. (like mine)!
I got a nice Kar 98a, Gew33/40 and other toys from S&D Bookstore. I finally met them at a gunshow on the east coast years later. Good guys.
I was at the shop once on a trip east. He was selling 33/40 actions for 25 bucks. Turned out they were complete rifles. I got several for myself and friends. Had a couple cases of them, just loose in the case. I had my pick. None had matched bolts, of course. He sold Hungarian 35's and 43's as well as the 98/40's. Greek Mann. rifles and carbines, and on and on, man what a candy store! I just didn't have the money then for all those goodies. But they are around ---somewhere! I have a scrap book of all those old Rifleman ads, or most of them.
