In checking "The Type 38 Arisaka" by Francis C. Allan and Harold W. Macy, the 5th series Nagoya carbine was estimated to be made between June 1941 to Sept 1942. I think the actual records were probably lost during one of the many visits by the U.S. Army Air Corps. That book by the way is excellent!

Model 38 carbine made in the tokyo arsenal, serial numbrer 207297. Any idea when this was manufactured. don in fl
All I found in the book was, Estimated date of production: June 1906 to March 1932.
Known serial number range: 349 - 209066
You can "guestimate" the manufacture date by the date range and serial number. I believe most production records were lost due to numerous visits by the U.S. Army Aircorps.
The folks who wrote "The type 38 Arisaka" put a lot of work into the book. I believe they got alot of input from other collectors. It makes it more of a challenge when many of the records went up in smoke.
